Happy Birthday Jackson!!
Last night’s covert operation was a success!! Maddie successfully slept from 9:00pm until 8:30am, along with everyone else! After getting up and ready, we took off for a day at Cocoa Beach. Jackson had a fantastic “Beach Birthday” in the sun. We laid our towels down, got out all our beach toys, ran for the water, and…Maddie started screaming. Apparently she hates fun in the sun. After some coaxing, she would finally stand in the sand as long as it was very far away from the water. Most of the pictures I took were of Maddie screaming, or of her back as she looked at the fun from afar. She ended up sitting on her towel while everyone got in the water and looked for seashells, until we realized that she was scooping sand in her shovel and eating it. Delicious! I also realized something else; it is a horrible mistake (although extremely exfoliating!) to wait until the kids are already on the beach and sandy to put on sunblock. It hurt my skin rubbing the sunblock on with sand stuck to my skin. Then we just looked like The Sandman, and all sticky. I also never realized how hard it is to get sand off your body and clothes before getting back in the car! Good thing it’s a rental!!
Back to the resort! We got back around 4:30pm and made the kids a quick dinner before Mike took Jackson to the car painting event at the resort. Meanwhile, Maddie and I stayed back in the room while I set up Jackson’s birthday present and cake. Crash! Maddie grabs one of the plates off the table and whips it onto the floor, smashing it into a kajillion pieces. After sweeping that up, the boys get back to the room and we all have cake. Hello chocolate fudge!!

Then we all played Jackson’s new Operation game that he really wanted, which is a lot different than the old version of it. It’s lots of fun, and easier for smaller kids to play. In the meantime, Maddie’s watching “The Bee Movie” from her crib – until I look over and see her standing outside of her crib holding the mini DVD player. Bwuh?? Yes, that’s right. Maddie’s figured out how to escape from her crib prison by throwing a leg over the top and pulling herself out. Tonight’s going to be fun!!
